The International Tech Park, Whitefield, Bangalore hosted the third of the Moonlighting@techpark events on September 29, 2000. This time, they showcased a live performance by "Tania", one of Singapore's oldest and no.1 retro bands who livened up the evening with their renditions of famous rock selections from Santana, Clarence Clearwater Revival, Paul Young and Deep Purple. Despite tumultuous rain, the crowds refused to dampen their spirits and joined wholeheartedly in renditions of "American Pie", "Yesterday" and "Born to be Wild".
The evening started off with sporadic rain drenching the open-air venue at the Tech Park. What started out as a drizzle soon turned into torrents of rain delaying the start of the performance by nearly and hour and a half. However, once the band commenced with "Smooth" by Santana, there was no stopping the young techies as they surged towards the stage. Other popular numbers from Queen, Eric Clapton and Pink Floyd had the crowd dancing in the rain and joining in the chorus of "We are the Champions".
The food too was a welcome surprise with the International Tech Park offering a variety of International cuisines to choose from for the very first time. There were four stalls cooking up appetizing aromas. From lip-smacking lamb chops & barbecued chicken to Chinese Stir fry, Lebanese Shawarma and Sana's & Fish Curry, there were crowds at every stall during the break. The main sponsors of the event were Deutsche Bank and Maruti India with BFL Software co-hosting the evening. Hospitality for the band was provided by The Oberoi, Bangalore. The event was produced and promoted by Eventually.
Remarked Mr. William Seet, CEO ITPL, " We thought the rains would be a problem, but we are happy at the turnout. We at ITPL want to provide evenings like these where our corporates can come and enjoy themselves. This is in accordance with our policy to promote an atmosphere where people can "work, live & play."
The last episode of Moonlighting, held in June, showcased the ever-popular pop singer 'Lucky Ali' and the ebullient host of one of television's most popular talk shows, Sajid Khan. The first event featured the 'Guitar Duo' Manuel Delgado from Spain and Ralf Siedhoff from Germany along with Mridangam Maestro TAS Mani. Both these were well attended and appreciated by the audiences.
The Tech Park has people of various nationalities and cultures sharing the work place. The International Tech Park is committed to providing them with opportunities to interact and participate in various events. Moonlighting@techpark is a regular affair held on the last Friday of the quarter evening and aims to bring exponents in the field of music, theatre and other entertainment to the International Tech Park premises. The series of events would include both mainstream artists and first time performers in India, providing an opportunity to witness masters at work.
