Topping Up Ceremony of Explorer

The International Tech Park, Bangalore held the Topping Up Ceremony of Explorer, the new building in its Stage 2 development, on 5 February `02. This ceremony marked another significant milestone for the International Tech Park since the ground breaking of Stage 2 in November 2000.

The ceremony began with the guests of honour symbolically mixing concrete and pouring it into a bucket of hydra-crane, which was then hoisted to the topmost floor by a tower crane and cast. Thus signifying the final pour of the concrete. The dignitaries who graced the occasion were the eminent industrialist and promoter of the Park, Mr. Ratan Tata, the Chairman of Tata Industries, Mr. Philip Yeo - Co-Chairman of the Economic Development Board, Singapore and Mr. Cyrus Mistry - the Managing Director of Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd.

The Explorer, with a total area of 4,00,000 Sq. Ft. of space, will not only enjoy the same benefits provided to the existing three buildings but also has added facilities and features such as the Multi Level Car Park (MLCP), which can accommodate approximately 200 cars in addition to the already existing open car park and the basement car park which accommodates approximately 700 cars. The other unique feature that the Explorer enjoys is the Optic Fibre Connectivity (OFC). Also the 9 MW Dedicated Power Plant, is presently being upgraded to 12 MW to cater to the expansion needs of the Park.
