To celebrate World Environment Day and to make the world and our surroundings a better place to live in, parkites at the International Tech Park Bangalore (ITPB) pledged together to help save the environment by starting with simple means like save water, save power, anti-litter and avoid smoking in public places. For parkites this day is not just about paying lip service to a cause, it’s about learning how they can pitch in and starting to do so.
International Tech Park Bangalore has always endeavored to give back to the community and what better opportunity than the World Environment Day, to reiterate the commitment. The day started with activities designed to disseminate information on how to care for the environment in our every day life and not just Environment Day through entertaining means. The day’s proceedings got enlivened further with parkites getting their face painted with environmental messages and other fun activities. The Parkites took part in various games, cultural activities, and community based activities. Popular band Mukti entertained the parkites to some foot tapping music. Green Peace, a noted NGO, urged the parkites to get involved in environment day, taking part in and setting up activities that both help to improve the environment as well the quality of life. There were also free emissions testing camp organized for the vehicles of the park as a part of the environment day campaign.
Speaking on this occasion Mr. Jonathan Yap, CEO, Ascendas India, said, “Our objective is to make people aware about our environment and how we all can make a difference. We believe that we can always make this a better place to live in and we can start by being more receptive to some issues. As a responsible institution it is our responsibility to save, protect and conserve our surrounding as well as our planet”.
