A tribute to the lush landscape of ITPB by the Mysore Horticultural Society
The foliage at the International Tech Park Bangalore (ITPB), carefully managed by Ascendas, was recently awarded “THE BEST ORNAMENTAL GARDEN AWARD” for its lush landscaping and high maintenance standards. The award was released by The Mysore Horticultural Society during the recently concluded January 2008 horticultural show in the Special Outstanding Garden (Ornamental Category).
ITPB’s green stretch spans over 14 acres, covering almost one-fifth of its 69-acre plot. The verdant landscape has more than 30 species of exotic, indigenous, perennial and flowering plants, managed by a dedicated team of horticulturists.
Mr LIM Sin Tiow, CEO Ascendas India said, “We are pleased to receive this honour. Besides the physical environment, Ascendas accords equal importance to spatial aesthetics in keeping with our mission to provide inspiring environments. It has always been our endeavor to develop business spaces with lush surroundings where creative business ideas can bloom and succeed”.
“Our future plans will include setting up a herbal garden and opening up new sections of the Park to preserve endangered plant species,” Mr Lim added.
ITPB employs various eco-friendly measures to maintain the park’s lushness. The Park’s sewage treatment plant (STP) recycles 2 million litres of waste water per day that is used to irrigate the gardens in the Park. The fertilizer used for maintaining the landscape is generated from a bio-compost pit located within at the Park.
Recently, ITPB was also the proud recipient of the Best Decentralized Power Plant in Asia in the Third Annual Asian Power Awards 2007 for its dedicated power plant (DPP).
